Top 7 Chilhood Games That Batang 90’s Will Never Forget

Millenials or those who were born on early 2000’s will never understand the kind of life that the batang 90’s were able to experience. It was fun and memorable because children on those days consume most of their time playing with other kids. Internet and gadgets weren’t there yet when the Batang 90’s were still on their growing up years. There are plenty of games that truly a certified batang 90’s will never forget. Here are some of those:

Patintero

patintero

This is quite common for almost all Filipino children living in both rural and urban areas. It has different versions on other places of the country yet the concept is still the same.

    Luksong Tinik

Luksong Baka
Although boys would often play this game because this is done by hopping or jumping over someone, there are girls who are champions on this.

    Teks

Teks

Gadgets were not yet present at that time, but Anime was already present. Kids are very much addicted to it and it is even the reason why they choose to go home early so they can watch it. To note, there was no internet so when you miss an episode you will never have the chance to watch it again, unless the station decided to replay it for some reason. Teks are usually have anime characters on it. And batang 90’s feel like their card or teks has the power of that character as well.

    Dampa

Dampa

Dampa is a game played with the use of rubberbands. Kids are even quite innovative then, because there are actually different hand techniques that you can use while playing. Your goal here is for you to have the rubber band pass through a certain light, using your bare hands.

    Spider Fighting (Lawa-Lawa)

spider game

This may appear as animal cruelty right now, but since Spiders belong to the family of insects, it’s quite hard to determine if a Batang 90’s has already committed a crime back then. It’s like a boxing for spiders. Two sipders will stay on a single stick and they will then eventually fight with each other. It was fun witnessing how a spider can actually produce an amount of silk from its mouth to strangle its prey.

    Chinese Garter

chinese garter

This game is quite common for girls rather than boys because of the nature of the game. It involves bending and flexing of legs in order to reach a certain level.

    Marbles

marble game

Marbles or Jolen for Filipino Kids, goes along with dampa and teks. Your goal is to have the marble shoot on a hole intended for it. The game also includes the player hitting the marble of his opponent at a certain distance.

If you are not familiar with Fidget spinners being sold online and you wonder about its purpose, then you might want first to learn about fidgeting. Fidgeting in psychology is actually a certain response of your body that corresponds to non-verbal communication. There are varying types of fidgeting and it depends on the person’s behavior, coping and intentions. Since it holds different meanings on every person, some form of fidgeting may appear annoying to others, thus to perhaps manage the unnecessary movements fidget spinners were made.      However, there is no scientific evidence that these spinners are actually therapeutic. Fidgeting in nature is therapeutic however, such as snapping one’s fingers every time a person tries to recall on something, or when someone bit their lips when they feel a bit embarrassed. These are the things that fidget spinners could not actually replace. Fidgeting is a natural response. It allows a person to cope to a certain situation without being in sane. It is like defense mechanisms but more on the non-verbal aspect.     It doesn’t have therapeutic effects and it is quite surprising for it to become part of the social trend. But if you wonder why it made rounds in the social media, the answer is because of profit. Fidget spinners can be found everywhere. Sellers are actually taking advantage of the trend. Some people are not even aware what fidgeting is and how fidget spinners could allegedly help. When people become curious they will not mind shedding off some cash just to try what’s in store for them.     Trying to fit in the social trend is much more difficult to deal compared to an involuntary bodily response. Don’t fall for things that will just take away your cash and you end up like a fool. Although fidget spinner could actually be a good option when you are feeling bored it does not necessarily mean that it is capable of eliminating your stress level. People buy fidget spinners just to show off and it’s not really something one should be interested about.
As simple and as straight forward as its use is, towels are a basic necessity for everyday life. But as important as they are, not a lot of people think to change them often. But because of the fact that we usually use these on a daily basis gives us all the more reason to swap them as soon as possible. The question is: how often is it safe enough to change towels? Here are a few factors:   1.    Number of Uses Think of washing your towel not in the number of days you’ve used it but in the number of times. The reason for this is because we differ in how many times a day or week we use it. Some of us like to do so daily; others every other day. Others still like to use their towels more than once, especially on a hot summer day. Recommended: Generally speaking, after 3-4 times, best if you throw in the towel, buddy. 2.    The Environment of Your Home Moisture – one of the essential components necessary for life. Good news for us who want to keep well-moisturized skin, but bad news for your towel. Moisture equals turning your beloved towel into an evil breeding ground for bacteria and all sorts of yuck. So if you live in a place that’s on the damp side, this means your towel will be facing the dryer more often than it likes.   3.    Where You Dry Off Your Towels Towels, though basically designed for heavy use, may start getting smelly if you don’t dry them off completely. It’s best to dry them outside and ideally, under direct sunlight to kill off those icky germs and deodorize the smell. But if you don’t want to go through the hassle and keep them inside, or you live in a place where you’re unable to put them outside, you may have to replace your towels more frequently. 4.    Your Health and Lifestyle For people who have sensitive skin and are prone to breakouts, a filthy bathroom towel could be your worst nightmare. When you rub this on your skin, the excess dirt and grime can clog your pores and result to a breakout of unsightly blemishes. Not only that, friction from rubbing can cause acne. The recommended way to use your towel is to pat your skin dry, don’t rub! For people who have an active lifestyle, whether you’re a gym buff or have a physically demanding job, sweat would most likely make your towel smell. The moment your nasal faculties alert you of even the slightest hint of a stench, replace that thing ASAP.
Summer is almost here! With longer days and shorter nights, it’s a great time to have some fun in the sun with family and friends. It may be great for your mood but maybe not for your skin… This would seriously curb the fun factor. Here are 3 well-known skin problems you will most likely get in summer time and ways to treat them or much better, avoid them (as they say, “prevention is better than cure”, right?): 1.    Sunburn   How you get it: Hello sunburn, my old friend. It’s like being run over by a sun truck. Depending on your skin, staying out too long can make your skin red, hot to touch, and painful or itchy at best. In severe cases, you can run a high fever and get chills. How to prevent it: Invest in good quality sunscreen that would match your skin type. Don’t stay out too long in the sun but find shade. Wear the right gear as much as possible, like wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, UPF clothing, etc. How to treat it: As soon as you feel your skin getting tingly or looks pinkish, get out of the sun immediately! For instant relief, place a cold compress, like a damp towel, on the skin. Drink lots and lots of water. Taking a cool shower would help tremendously as well; just gently pat the skin afterwards. For the face, splash cool water and gently pat with a soft towel. For skin and face, use moisturizer containing soy or aloe vera (pure ones would be awesome too). Stay away from lotions containing these: petroleum, benzocaine, lidocaine. 2.    Irritated Skin and Dry Hair   How you get it: Staying too long in the pool and sun can dry up your body’s natural oils. Chlorine from the swimming pool can leave your skin tight and itchy and your hair dry and giving it split ends. How to prevent it: Before swimming, protect your skin by applying water-proof sunscreen. For your hair, get it wet with clean water first and coat it with some hair conditioner so that it won’t absorb the chlorine once you dive in the pool. Time yourself and learn to know your limits. How to treat it: Because of the chlorine, it should’ve already got rid of any sweat and dirt on you so you don’t really need to scrub. Just some gentle bathing and rinsing with a mild soap would do the trick to remove the smell. 3.    Acne Break-out   How you get it: Because of the excess sweat and summer heat combined with surrounding dirt and your body’s natural oils, your pores will get clogged. This results into every teenager’s nightmare. How to prevent it: To avoid this perennial monstrosity, make sure to wipe away sweat with a clean towel and to take a shower if need be. Also, don’t forget to wash sweaty clothes before wearing them again. How to treat it: If the problem started because of clogged pores, the solution is simply the opposite. Unclog them by cleansing and exfoliating. One cannot go without the other. Cleansing will help stop buildup of bacteria in your pores. If you have oily skin, better wash your face first thing in the morning and before you go to sleep. Exfoliating, on the other hand, will get rid of the dead skin inside your pores. You should do this 2-3 times a week.
The word Bajau is a collective term for indigenous groups of people. These groups have also blended with the culture of the Sana which is why they are called the Sama-Bajau. In history the term Sama describes indigenous people who live more in areas of land. On the other hand the term Bajau is used for ethnic groups residing near the seas or on seas or those who dwell in boats.      The Badjau People or also called the Sama or Samal are indigenous ethnic groups found in Maritime Southeast Asia. They live mainly on the seas using wooden boats like the Vintas. This ethnic group originally came from the Sulu Archipelago. They also lived in some areas of Mindanao and northern Borneo. For half a century though, the Badjaus have been migrating to neighboring countries and also in the northern Philippines. This is due to the ongoing conflicts in the ARMM ( Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). At present the Badjaus are considered to be one of the largest ethnic groups in Sabah. They make up almost 15% of the state’s population. These people have also migrated in Indonesia but the number of their population remains unanimous. The Bajau were sometimes associated with other ethnic groups of similar lifestyles. They have been called Sea Gypsies. The outward spreading of the Bajau from their old homes to other countries wasalso associated with the development of sea trade in modern times.     The origin of the term Bajau was never clarified. It is generally used to describe or call these ethnic groups. Ironically, they themselves never used the term Bajaus to describe themselves. They would call themselves according to their tribe’s names, the place they live in or where they came from. But even so these people share the same some of their vocabularies and bodily features. That is why agree with being called Bajaus in general.     As a large ethnic group, the Bajaus have subgroups within themselves. And although they share some genetic characteristics and parts of their vocabularies, each of their groups had their own unique languages and traditions. However, some of these subgroups are able to understand the others’ languages. The Simunul for example, which are found in Sabah are able to communicate with other Bajaus using the Tausug language.      There are numerous subgroups comprising the Bajaus. The UbianBajaus are the first of these groups. They are originally from the island of South Ubian located in Tawi-Tawi of the Philippines. In Sabah they are considered to be the largest group of Bajaus. They live in minorities around the Kudat and Semporna Towns in Sabah, Malaysia. The Bannaran is another subgroup which originated also in Tawi-Tawi but on the Bannaran Island. They are also found Kudat and Semporna. The SamalBajaus is another group originating from the coasts of Sabah. But many of them have migrated north up to the Visayas and southern Luzon islands.     The Bajau people vary in their religious beliefs as well as their cultures. Their faiths include the strict Sunni Islam, folk islam and then there are others who are dedicated to ancestor worship. A minority of them are Christians too.
If there are things that remained pleasing to the eyes of the people particularly the women, one of these is make-up or cosmetics. Men could even question a lot or almost all of women why they would really want to have a set of make up at home or why do they keep a make-up kit inside their bags at all times? Men often wondered why it appears like women are so delighted with cosmetic and are even confused why they men on the other hand have little or no interest at all when it comes to make up.     If there is someone or something to blame about the differences of perception of men and women towards make-up it is none other than the society’s standards. Women were raised to become attractive. They were conditioned that in order for other people to like them they must always be beautiful, attractive and appealing. They need to observe proper grooming at all times, smell good and do what is likable to others. Meanwhile men were simply raised not to bother about their physical attributes. They were conditioned to become more concern on their skills, their strength and other things that could contribute to them becoming manly enough.     With this regard, and the changing demands and standards of the society when it comes to beauty, women are trying their very best to look appealing and lovable like what they were taught about. With women’s quest to acquire an irresistible kind of beauty, they discovered make-up. Not all women were born with to have the qualities that the society declares to be ideal and beautiful. There are also some women who are exposed to certain things which made a huge effect on their physical traits.      The thing about make-up and beauty is that when it seems appealing to the eyes of most of the people or to the society then it is good and acceptable. There is nothing wrong about choosing cosmetics and enhancing one’s beauty, however the question on how it started and why most women are into it is all because of the society. Almost all people want to look good. Nobody wants to look like a joker or something inappropriate. Looking good is already embedded inside the heads of the people. It is something you cannot just ignore. But it should not also keep you from loving yourself more of who you are and what you are.

With its color fading away, its popularity indeed started to slow down, however its quite noticeable she enjoyed her moment and made the most of it by gaining extra pounds.

With today’s trend where direct, private, and instant messages are of great help to people, consumers must be aware in choosing mobile apps especially if it has something to do with your personal info’s such as your contact list where clients, bank accounts and other important stuff are being saved.     Most of the time, mobile apps are being installed because of its popularity. When a wide audience seemed to use it even for just a short time, you should expect for others to try it too without really verifying its security measures.  SARAHAH Honesty App is supposedly an app that can be used in giving feedbacks anonymously. Seems like people nowadays are drawn into intriguing stuff more than ever. However accordingly the app works in such a way that the person who has been rated or given feedback has no way of tracing or replying to it. The creator of the app tend to give its users the chance to leave positive comments or feedbacks as an act of kindness while keeping their identity unknown.      However the entire community has been totally shocked (shookt) when it has been revealed that this app is actually unknowingly stealing your personal details such as your contact list. Aside from stealing, they make use of it by uploading it to their data base and who knows what they could do about it.      Once you installed this app, it will only take them a while to steal your info.     In a certain Facebook post by Mark Dianne Duarte, three women are now asking for help from anyone with a good heart to help them with their current situation. The victims are residents of Cabdbaran Agusan del Sur.      With the intent to enhance and beautify themselves, they decided to undergo treatment from a person whom they barely know. The procedure went by injecting some unknown chemicals unto their faces. However instead of having better and beautiful faces, it went really worse and appeared distorted. The three of them have the same reaction with the chemical.     With the help of their friends and families, they are now trying to reach a certain amount in order to help the victims. Aside from the horrible outcome of what happened, the victims are now starting to become ill and are all afraid of what could happen to them if not given the proper care.     Unfortunately, the suspect is now nowhere to be found. The victims were not even aware of the suspect’s whereabouts.     According to the one who posted, a certain media will then cover the story of these women, to inform and especially warn those who would dare to undergo such procedure. The suspect was not a licensed medical professional but because of cheaper rates he managed to convince these ladies to try it all for the aim of becoming beautiful.
When you don’t have sweet tooth it is hard to find snacks that can match your low tolerance for sugar. Almost all snacks were made out of sugar, chocolates and other forms of sweeteners. It is the main reason why Skittles stands out from the rest of the group. It is a sweet yet sour candy that comes in a bright rainbow colors. But all of a sudden Skittles became really dull and lost all that rainbow colors.     In an official stamen made by Skittles, they decided to have a different packaging for intended for the entire month of June. As practiced June is the month dedicated for the LGBT community. The LGBT community has the rainbow to represent them because they acknowledged that they are composed of different genders thus constitutes not just a single color but of different colors.      Since the Skittles and the LGBT community share the same kind of color representation, Skittles gladly gave way to the LGBT community. According to them, although the share the same symbol, one has to stand out and celebrate their existence and they give it whole heartedly to the LGBT group.      This is such a remarkable and thoughtful move for Skittles. Although they were branded and known because of their color, they were not afraid to give way to celebrate a significant event for some people. Consumers in return have shown appreciation to what the company did. Their customers admired their sensitive and immediate decision to honor the LGBT community.     Changing brand packaging is a bit risky when it comes to sales and market. Well known and established companies see to it that when they have to change or modify their packaging it needs to be somehow close to the previous design. It is because people shop out of familiarity. When you change your packaging into a totally different concept, chances are your consumers will not be able to recognize your products anymore.      However it is different with the case of Skittles. They dared to risk their sales and their brand in order to commemorate an event. With this making rounds in the internet, Skittles is rest assured that their customers would still remain loyal to them.
