The Colorful Vintas of Zamboanga

Vintas are traditional boats originating from the southern island called Mindanao in the Philippines. The Bajau and Moros of Sulu and Zamboanga created these boats. They are also called lepa-lepa or sakayan and were used since ancient times to transport people and goods to and from different islands. In those times the Bajaus and people from Basilan and Tawi-tawi used these boats as their homes. It was said that they seldom went to land except for the task of burying their dead. This is also why they became known as great swimmers and people with great knowledge of the sea and oceans. The Vintas are also used in regattas. Regattas are a series of races between rowboats such as the vintas.
They were made from dug-out canoes and installed with double outriggers. But the most remarkable traits of these boats are the colorful patterns of its sails. Although each boat has a variety of colors, every one of them follows a certain vertical pattern. Each color is separated from the other in a vertical fashion. The colors used in every line represent the culture and the past of the Muslims. It is because of these vessels that Zamboanga is famous for.
Originally, Vinta was the term used for a Moro dance. This was a celebration reminiscing the time when Filipinos migrated to the archipelago. The dance was performed with moves imitating the movements of the boats. The dancers would do this by standing on top of poles and balancing themselves as though they were Vintas sailing in the Ocean.
The Vinta basically signifies the general evolution of Sulu towards development. It is the island’s symbol as the maneuvering of the craft requires careful steering because of stormy waters. The people of Sulu were believed to have used these boats in the past in search of their promised land. They believed that this land was given to them as inheritance from their forefathers.
Vinta represents a lot to the people and it has many uses in terms of tourism and foreign attraction. It has become a great icon for Filipinos and some institutions in the Philippines. The PAREF schools, for example has used the Vinta as a symbol to their buildings. In other places such as the picturesque Paseo del Mar the Vintas are used as one of their additional attractions. It was the Department of Tourism with the support of the City Government which has recently launched the “Vinta Sailing at Paseo”. This official launching is one of the country’s efforts to promote the culture of Zamboanga City. In this effort the colorful vintas are used both to attract tourists and also to create programs that will preserve the culture.
With a low price of P50, visitors can now enjoy a 30-minute tour around the Paseo del Mar riding the vintas. This is available every Saturday and Sunday with at least 5 boats ready to for a tourist to ride on. Tourists can also observe regattas during the Fiesta Pilar.
The Vinta is a representation of Zamboanga’s history and culture. But it is also one of the symbols that represent the Philippines as it signifies migration and the colorful traditions of the country.

The protagonist of the story is Juan Crisostomo Ibarra. 7 years away from Philippines, he returns after studying in Europe. To celebrate his comeback, family friend Captain Tiago throws a party for him. Friars and influential leaders attended. But one of the friars Don Damaso belittled Ibarra on that night.      The following day Ibarra visited Maria Clara, Captain Tiago’s daughter who is also his fiancé. Before Ibarra left though, a Civil Guard, Lieutenant Guevara, revealed to him how Ibarra’s father Don Rafaelo died. Don Rafaelo was accused by Don Damaso as a heretic because he did not attend the Sacraments. Aside from that, there was an incident where Don Rafaelo helped in a fight between a child and tax collector. When the latter died Don Rafaelo was accused and brought to jail where he died of an illness.      Despite all that, Ibarra did not plan on taking revenge. Instead he went on with his and Don Rafelo’s plan to put up a school. They believed that education is the key to success for the country. On the school’s inauguration, a hired killer attempted to kill Ibarra but he was saved by a man named Elias. The same man had warned him of this earlier. The hired killer then met with an accident and got killed.      The next day, Ibarra held a luncheon where Damaso gate-crashed and insulted him and his father. Ibarra ignored him at first but at the slander of his father he could not resist it and he lunged in an attempt to stab Damaso. But he failed and as a result was excommunicated. Damaso also convinced Tiago not to marry his daughter to Ibarra.      Another party was held at the house of Tiago announcing the future wedding of Clara and Linares. Elias used this opportunity to help Ibarra escape the prison. Ibarra sneaked to speak with Maria where he accused her of betraying him by surrendering his letters to the jury. But she explained that she was blackmailed to do so in return for her mother’s letters who she never saw since birth.      In a shootout, Maria Clara had thought that Ibarra was shot and killed. So overcome with sorrow, she went into the nunnery and got admitted by Damaso. Little did she know that it was Elias who got shot.      Christmas Eve came at the time when Elias opened his eyes to see himself wounded fatally wounded. It was his rendezvous with Ibarra. But it was Basilio who came holding his dead mother Sisa. Sisa lost her insanity when she found out that her children (Crispin and Basilio) were being hunted by the sacristan mayor on accusations of theft.      Elias knew of his imminent death and instructed Basilio to burn his and Sisa’s body to ashes. He then told him to dig if no one came and he’ll find gold to support him to school. Before his last breath he advised Basilio to persist in dreams of freedom for the motherland.      As for the epilogue, Tiago turned into an opium addict frequenting the opium house. Maria Clara succeeded in becoming a nun. But the Friar Salvi regularly raped her regularly. And on a stormy night, a beautiful insane lady went on top of the convent and cursed the heavens for what befell her. The lady could not be identified, but rumor has it that it was Maria Clara.
The word Durian came from an Indonesian word duri which means “thorn”. It is a fruit which belongs to a certain species of a tree called the genus Durio. It is well known in Southeast Asia with the nickname of “the fruit king”. The fruit is noticeable for its bulky size, hard and large thorns covered with husk, and its famous Durian odor. Some Durians are oblong in size but others are round. The husk’s color varies from brown to green. The color of its flesh also vary depending on its species: some are yellow while others are red. The odors emanating from the fruit comes from its flesh which is edible. It is so strong that even when the husk is intact the odor comes out of it. And although some would find it pleasant and fragrant, most people react negatively to it. Because of that the fruit has been banned in some hotels or public transportations in Asia.     The Durian can be eaten in numerous ways, in different stages of its ripeness and is used as an addition to flavors on all kinds of sweets and savory in Asian foods. The seeds have also been found to be edible when it is cooked. The Durian has 30 different species from the genus Durio. But out of the thirty only nine species are considered edible.  Only one of the 9 species called the Durio zibethinus are available in the international market. The other 8 are sold locally in the regions where they are grown.     The trees of the King of the Fruits grow up to fifty metres. It has oblong evergreen leaves and flowers which are clustered in the branches. The usual durian tree takes about 4 to 5 years before it can produce fruits. The fruits then, after pollination takes up to 3 months before it matures.     Durian has been known in southern Asia even in the prehistoric times. But in the western world, the fruit has only been introduced 600 years ago. In the 15th century Europian by the name of Niccolo Da Conti travelled and came to southeast Asia where he discovered the fruit.     The fruit has wide variety of uses in different cuisines from all over Asia. Over the years it has been used to add flavor to ice kakangs, Malay candies, dodols (sweets from Mindanao), biscuits, ice creams and mooncakes. It was also used in cappuccinos. Its flesh can also be dried to make durian chips.     Aside from its edible contributions to food, the Durian also has medicinal and nutritional aids to the society. It has been discovered that the fruit is high in sugar, potassium, Vitamin C, fats, proteins and carbohydrates. The juice extracted from its leaves has also been used as ointments to the head of patients with fevers. The roots can also be boiled in water and drink to stop fevers. It can also be used as poultice, a soft mass applied to irritated or inflamed skin.     The Durian was called as the King of the Fruits because of its tough image and thorns and its overwhelming odor.
Having only six years of life span, the organization of La Solidaridad has accomplished lots because of the contributions of its prominent members. These people with their trivial pen names are namely Dr. Jose Rizal, Marcelo H. del Pilar, Antonio Luna, Mariano Ponce and Jose Maria Panganiban. The Pen names they used were Laong Laan (after a railway station) by Rizal, Plaridel by del Pilar, Taga-llog by Luna, Tikbalang by Mariano Ponce and Jomapa by Panganiban.     All of the members had one thing in common and that is that they were all liberals who were exiled in the year 1872. The La Solidaridad were also composed of students who attended universities in Europe. Their aim was to increase the awareness of the Spanish on the necessities of its colony in the Philippines. They also aimed to propagate smoother relationships between the Philippines and the Spanish if not closer. The La Solidaridad is a Spanish word which meant in English as the Solidarity. It was created on the 13th of December 1888 in Spain.      The organization was led by Galicano Apacible who was Jose Rizal’s cousin. La Solidaridad once issued a paper which had the same name. It was published on the 15th of February in 1889 at Barcelona, Spain. Graciano Lopez Jaena was the first editor of that paper and was later replaced by Marcelo H. del Pilar. The paper of La Solidaridad focused on nationalistic topics such as the political, cultural, social and economic conditions of a country specifically the Philippines and Spain. It contains articles and essays written by each prominent writer. Aside from that the paper also published articles concerning news and current events which are local and also foreign. They also included speeches coming from prominent leaders of Spain and which talked about the condition of the Philippines.     Aside from the first five mentioned, the other known members of La Solidaridad were Robert Lacamra, Jumar lim, Jose Alejandrino, Eduardo de Lete, Isabelo delos Reyes, Antonio Maria Regidor and Pedro Paterno. They also consisted of members which were foreign. The international members are the Austrian ethnologist Professor Blumentritt and Spanish Historian Dr. Miguel Sagrario.     The history of La Solidaridad take its roots back from the initial goals and aspirations of the Propaganda Movement. The Propaganda Movement in the past were looking for ways and venues to express their desires of the Philippines and Spain attaining a successful assimilation. They all then agreed that by creating the La Solidaridad they would be more effective in their mission and so it was established. The organization published their issues every after a week. It started its first publish in February 15, 1889. The La Solidaridad stood as one of the systems that helped the movement propagate for six years.     The Comite de Propaganda was the core provider and funder of the La Solidaridad. The editorship position was first offered to Jose Rizal which he declined. His reason was that it was due to his being so busy in the annotation of Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas by Antonio de Morga on London. From 1889 up to 1895 the La Solidaridad kept publishing. But after six years they ran out of funds to support their activities and on November 15, 1895, it officially ceased its publication with a farewell note from Marcelo del Pilar.
One of the solidest tree in the world is a tree widely known as Narra and grows densely in the Philippines. Its scientific name is the Pterocarpus. It is also known in other countries as the New Guinea Rosewood or Malay Paduak. Others call it Pashu Padauk. Among other countries aside from Philippines, the Narra is also found in Indonesia, China, Papua New Guinea and Malaysia.     The tree grows up from thirty up to forty meters high. It has a trunk with an average of two meters in diameter. It is a deciduous tree that is very large in structure. Its leaves are usually 12-22 centimeters long. The pinnate has 5 up to 11 leaflets with a girth that is 12 to 34 meters wide. The flowers of the narra grows in panicles which is 6 to 13 centimeters long. This panicle contains fe to some flowers. The months of the flowering of the Narra depends on the country where it grows. In Philippines the flowering takes place starting from February to May. The flowers are fragrant but only slightly. The normal color is yellow or sometimes orange-yellow. The flowers of Narra also grows fruits that are semiorbicular pods of 2 to 3 cm in diameter. They are surrounded by flat wings which are 4-6 cm in diameter. These wing-like figures helps in the dispersals of the wind.      The Narra is considered as one of the national symbols of the Philippines. This is due to its variety in terms of uses and aids in the daily lives of the people. The constituents of the tree is known to yield “kino” which contains kinotannic acid. The woods are also known to yield othe constituents such as narrin, santalin and angolensin. The Narra is notable for its swiftness in growth and its strength in terms of hardness. It is the top hardest tree in the Philippines. Aside from that, it can grow well regardless if its planted on bottom lands. It is also remarkable for being less vulnerable to pests and diseases compared to other trees.     There are some parts of Narra that are edible too. Its leaves and flowers are one of the examples. Also, the flowers have been reported as being a good source for honey. Aside from being edible, the narra tree offers medicinal aid to help heal diseases and other daily needs. For example, the infusion of its leaf can be used for making shampoo. It can also be used for treating diarrhea, stones, dropsy, sores and ailments in the bladder.      In other cases, the leaves of the Narra tree when they are still young can be boiled and used on boils, ulcers and prickly heat. The decoction of it can be used as aid for sore throats, as astringents or as mouthwash to treat toothaches. Bladder stones and dropsy can be dissolved too by the decoction of its leaves. Other benefits of the Narra can be taken from its resin which is a “kino” which can be used for the treatment of chronic diarrhea and hemorrhages.     The strength of the Narra tree is not only found in the physical structure of its body but also in the gentler parts which consists of the flowers and its leaves and fruits.
It is again September and all eyes and ears are waiting for the release of Iphone’s latest member, the Iphone 7. So what are the new things that buyers should anticipate or expect for this device? Is it just similar to its predecessors or it has something very unique to offer? Much of these hunches, it seems like there are things that will totally surprise the people. The questions of will people be glad or mad about it, is surely something any interested buyer should take note.      One thing that is remarkably new about this device is the loss or absence of the headphone jack. Iphone7 did drop off the historic headphone jack in exchange of the iphone earpods. Users should expect for a wireless lightning earpods that works through bluetooth connection. Choosing to go wireless has drawn so much controversy to the Apple Company, yet their Marketing Chief Phil Schiller, stood firm and proud of the dynamic change of the Iphone7. According to Schiller, they decided to get rid of the traditional analog type of headphones not due to superficial reasons or perhaps to elicit an elegant style, but because the traditional design is consuming too much space for the device’s new processor. They have to let go of it and had the courage to go wireless.      However, although it’s for the device’s own good in order to optimize its capacity, these lightning earpods are actually sold separately. Yes, you heard it right. Unlike the usual package when you buy a new device, Iphone7’s lightning earpods are not for free. So what’s the deal if you opt only for the device and you find it too costly to go for the lightning earpods? Well, you can still use your old headphones but it will take a quite turn before you can use it. You need to use an adapter that you have to connect through the charging port and connect your headphones on that adapter.      Which would look like this:      It’s indeed quite a job and a bit hassle, especially when you choose to walk around with your headphones on. With this, one will surely decide to go for the lightning earpods, if and only if you have the budget for it.

Although there are no official statements yet from globe telecom about them putting an end to their free Facebook promo on mobile data, people seemed to figure out quickly. When this promo started, people got the chance to enjoy using Facebook without spending anything for it. It is in all honesty free for its users. However who is actually funding this free subscription promo and why are they stopping it all of a sudden?     In 2013, globe launched its free Facebook for mobile data users. This was their best move considering that a growing number of users were already using smartphones rather than desktops or laptops. They wanted to be part of the convenience of having everything on your mobile device. And it was indeed a success because they were able to reach 140% of revenue growth a year after they launched the promo. They have even mentioned that free Facebook under globe telecom will forever stay as long as it gives them stable revenue.     But who is actually funding this promo? According to globe telecom, they are paying for the total cost of the bandwidth consumed by the free Facebook users. Although it may seemed like they are giving it for free, they were convinced that they are still making profit out of it. This could happen since a user will be charged right away once he or she goes out of the app by clicking a certain link.      The number of smartphone users at this moment is still increasing, but why is it that globe decided to retract its free Facebook promo, when more users would mean more growth in their revenue? Although they claimed that they are alone paying for the bandwidth of their users, this seems to be different in other network providers in different countries who decided to team up with the owner of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. It is actually the owner of Facebook himself who shoulders the cost of the bandwidth in order to provide free access for its users and in return gain more number of users and more profit for his team.      Almost all websites that you can find in the internet rely on advertisers for monetary gain. If you have been fond of watching videos in Facebook you will notice ads being inserted in the middle of some videos, this is actually how Facebook makes money. But with globe’s free Facebook promo, you can barely view a picture and how much more for a video? The only thing that works on free Facebook is its messenger, but unlike the Facebook app, it does not contain ads.
Losing weight, especially in this day and age, can be pretty hard. And with millennials today so used to instant-everything, long-term goals like weight-loss can be aggravating to achieve. That's why a lot of people nowadays resort to slimming pills, thinking that it’s the easier and simpler way to weight-loss. Others take them because their doctor prescribed it to them, maybe due to obesity-related health problems, or that they're allergic to certain foods and unable to go on a diet, or maybe even have a heart problem rendering them incapable of doing any exercise regimes. That’s what these pills are intended for. To help people who are physically unable to become healthy weight-wise. But for people who are capable.     I hope you’ll reconsider gobbling up that next pill after you read this. The risks in taking non-prescribed medication could range from uncomfortable to downright dangerous:     1.    Old habits die hard. Striving for long-term goals like weight loss are life-changing and can lead you to good eating habits, well-needed practice of exercise, and in turn, a healthier lifestyle. It’s not easy but it’ll be worth it in the long run. Pills are made for quick-fixes but just that. They’re temporary. They’re not meant to be sustainable and when stopped, you’ll just go back to square one.       2.    You’re just shedding water weight. Not actual fat loss. Notice how when you take diet pills, you tend to go to the bathroom more often? You’re not flushing out fat. It’s just water weight, since most slimming pills are a combination of diuretics and caffeine.     3.    Dehydration Now that I’ve mentioned how these pills only flush out water, the bad thing is, not only will that water weight eventually just return back but you could actually be in danger of dehydration.     4.    You could be at risk of a heart attack. Studies have shown that people taking certain popular diet pills have put themselves at much greater odds for stroke compared to their non-partaking counterparts. You see, most of these drugs’ main ingredients are stimulants (phenylpropanolamine or PPA for one), which can be seen in prescription level drugs.       5.    Mood swings Get ready to swing… mood swing that is. Some pills have been sold as appetite suppressants. These work as stimulant drugs; they help curb your appetite by increasing certain chemicals (like adrenaline) in your brain, the ones that control your desire for food. You’ll feel more easily satiated and are not likely to overeat. Good for people suffering from obesity, but other than that, it’s not such a good idea. The elements affecting your appetite are also responsible for a lot of other things. Tampering with them may cause insomnia, anxiety, irritability, heart rate, etc. hence the mood swings.     6.    You can get addicted. As I’ve mentioned earlier, some pills have stimulants as their core component. Stimulant drugs, like amphetamine, can lead to psychological dependence if abused. Watch out for yourselves or your loved ones taking these; see if they’re becoming obsessive with their weight and taking medication more than they should.     There’s no magic bullet, or in this case, pill, to instant weight loss. Better to just stick with the classics, to what’s proven and tested: some good-old fashioned reduced-calorie high-fiber diet and a carefully planned exercise routine. Sure, it’s not instantaneous, but the journey will be well-worth it.
It’s almost next to impossible nowadays to be truly healthy, let alone, lose weight and be healthy at the same time. With fast food joints popping up everywhere, eat-and-run meals sadly seem to be discouraging people to take the time to cook a healthy meal, and also inadvertently encouraging obesity by giving customers the tempting option of upsizing their meals for lesser the price.     Not only that, people are crazy over these fad/crash diets, even if at the expense of their health, so long as they lose weight fast. But fret not! There’s still hope. You can be both healthy and lose weight. The key is really just having a healthy active lifestyle. Here are 4 things to consider if you want to lose weight healthily:     1.    Eat breakfast.  Don’t trick yourself into thinking that skipping the first meal of your day will lessen your overall weight in the long run. It’s not called breakfast for nothing, darlings. It’s not only the first; it’s actually THE most important meal of the day. Why? Because you’re essentially breaking the overnight fast, the time your body was asleep. In doing so, you wake up your body and give it the necessary jolt for the day. Missing breakfast will actually make you hungry throughout the whole day whereas eating properly will minimize those pangs until the day finishes. So don’t be afraid. Also, don’t eat sweets and junk food. Eat healthy. A well balanced breakfast of protein, fiber and good carbs will give your health much wealth.     2.    Don’t do fad or crash diets. photo by yourecards Fad diets are the type of diet where you’re promised to lose weight quickly without any hassle and exercise. They’re usually popular; the reason for this is because a lot of celebrities endorse this kind of diets and could be just a marketing strategy for a company’s new product/s. Some examples of this diet are high-protein diets, liquid diets, grapefruit diets, and others. The thing with fad diets is that it may seem quick and easy but it may actually endanger your health as it can lead you to unhealthy and unbalanced routines.     Crash diets also offer you quick weight loss results in a short amount of time. But unlike fad diets, crash diets are extreme to the point of nutrient deprivation and restriction of particular foods, especially your calorie intake. To point simply, quick weight loss programs, whether fad or crash types, won’t give you long-term results but can lead you to an unwholesome lifestyle. Bear in mind, if a diet seems too good to be true, it usually is.       3.    Drink water first before a meal. Research has shown that drinking water at the right time of the day can greatly maximize its effects on your body? 1-2 glasses of water 30 minutes or an hour before a meal can help you get better digestion and cause your stomach to absorb nutrients better. The added H2O can also make you feel fuller, thus lessening your food intake. Not only that, choosing to drink water, instead of those so-called empty-calorie beverages will be beneficial to your health. Say goodbye to rough and dry skin! Also, did you know drinking water can energize your day? More than drinking those energy drinks, water is still the best and original drink that could help empower your body.     4.    Find the perfect exercise and diet that will match you and your health. Proper exercise and proper food go hand in hand towards the road to healthy weight loss. These are the common mistake that people make: some exercise too much but eat too little. Others want to skip the exercise and just focus on eating right. However, you can’t have one without the other. Also, what works for one person may not be good for another. It’s important to know your limits; finding the right method may take a while. Be committed, experiment with different exercise regimes and diets until you find the one that fits your lifestyle.     Here are some easy hacks to trick your body into eating healthy and still lose a couple of pounds:     a.    Do not lead yourself into temptation but deliver yourself from “evil”. In this case, JUNKFOODS. Don’t stock up food in the fridge that will easily lure into an eating binge.     b.    Use smaller plates OR when you place the food, get only smaller portions. You can easily get a second helping if you want. But most of us only eat and finish what we usually place on our plates the first time.     c.    Have moral support. Having someone encourage you to be a better you would mean a lot.     d.    Get plenty of sleep. Not getting enough sleep will automatically rouse your body to eating more than usual to keep you energized for the day.     e.    Don’t eat because you’re bored! Comfort eating is okay every now and then but watch out that this doesn’t become a habit. Here are some ideas to avoid emotional eating:     •    Get in touch with some friends or family when you need to talk things out. Don’t you dare touch that fridge.     •    Calm down by taking a long soothing bath or doing meditation.     •    Try taking a nap or go on a brisk walk while listening to energizing music.     f.    Eat small portions of healthy food (5 times at least, instead of only the 3 major meals. Try these:     •    Potato chips (yes! These are okay actually)     •    Peanut butter     •    Hard-boiled egg     •    Raisins     •    Tangerines     •    Popcorn     •    Frozen yogurt     •    Fresh avocado     •    Chestnuts     •    Fresh fruit salad
Safety and security are two of the most important things that you need to put into consideration if you are about to make a decision that requires your identity and personal details. Majority of the people nowadays have social media account. An average person even has two or three social media accounts from different sites or apps. This is now how things are done. People communicate more in social media rather than in person. It is quite convenient because you can stay connected to all of your friends without leaving your place or home.      However this convenience may also risk your own security if you fail to secure your identity and leave your privacy settings in public. It is important that you know how to change and secure your personal details on social media because you might just be a victim of identity theft. Since it’s now very much easy to let people know about yourself and the things you do, others might just take advantage of it without you noticing it. There are individuals who would want to fish on details about yourself such as your complete name.      Although using your complete name in any account that you use, allows your friends to recognize you easier, you are also giving the bad guys the chance to make use of it. By just having your complete name they can create fake accounts and do unlawful business while using your name. These guys will not be held liable on possible crimes that they do because they hide under our name. Although you are truly innocent, still you need to present or submit yourself to authorities. This could be very stressful for anyone and for sure nobody wants to experience such ordeal.      It is indeed flattering to have hundreds of followers but this could only happen if you set your privacy settings into public. By choosing to have a public profile you are putting your identity in a great risk. Does an unknown follower really matter? It is better to have few friends on your list as long as you know all of them and you don’t have to worry about your privacy. The things you share in your social media account are all personal, so why share it to someone you barely know?
It is very important to lose weight if you think you are already out from the normal body mass index. It should be the primary reason in losing weight rather than for aesthetic purposes. People should be more concern of health rather than the physical appearance because a beautiful body is useless if it’s an unhealthy one. A body can be beautiful and at the same time healthy it should be the goal. These two things should come hand in hand to promote a healthy and a positive lifestyle.      There are hundreds of ways to lose weight. In fact it is one of the most discussed or searched topic in the internet.  One of which is through dieting. Dieting doesn’t mean you have to starve yourself and forget about having meals for the entire day. That is not dieting, that is actually suicide. Dieting means you have to cut off some of the unhealthy foods that you eat so that you can lose weight effectively. You are still allowed to eat but the list is now restricted and it take discipline for it to happen.     Sugar is one of the biggest culprit of obesity, diabetes, hypertension and other types of lifestyle diseases that are now slowly killing people. How can you say no to sugar when it is the sweetest thing on earth, literally and figuratively? Although it may appear really difficult it can actually give you great results.     Did you know that the amount of calories that a single bar of chocolate contains is already equivalent to two cups of rice or a large slice of meat? This is the main reason why you can easily gain weight and become fat if you don’t eliminate sugar from your diet. Although it comes in small sizes, but the calories it contain are much bigger than your usual meal. Aside from this, sugar also impairs the receptors in your body that are responsible in giving signals to your brain that you are already full. This is the reason why you don’t feel satisfied at all after eating several bars of chocolates and you would even want more.     Sugars are not limited to chocolates alone, donuts, cakes, ice creams, soft drinks, and many more are still part of the list. Sugar is a small but terrible compound that has the ability to transform your body into something you wouldn’t really want to be.      If you are not yet convinced, you better watch this video below.
