Does Make-Up Affect a Person’s Self Esteem?
Make-up or any forms of cosmetics were designed to enhance a person’s beauty and to work on the side of imperfections, therefore it concerns or involves the person’s physical appearance. Relatively first impression lasts. It is your physical appearance that makes a person desired whether to approach you or not. It is actually the reality that we have together with the set of norms and standards that the society has embodied to the people.
Nobody wants to be left behind and nobody wants to feel unwanted. This is actually how people were conditioned about with the norms of the society. Most of the women turn to cosmetics and make-up because they are convinced that this could help them correct their aesthetic imperfections. It can also enhance their good traits and make it more appealing. The bottom line is to achieve a more desirable and pleasing appearance.
But how does the use of make-up affects your self-esteem? There are a number of women who became really dependent to make-up; it is as if they could not go out of their house without putting it unto their faces. There are even some instances when the before and after the use of make-up is no longer recognizable. People would even term it as make-up transformation. It is indeed correct because once it has been used, the entire appearance of the person changes. According to most women it boosts their confidence and it hides their imperfections making them feel really good about themselves.
Make-up can indeed make a person look beautiful and even feel good about because of it. However it does not come in all good points, it also has disadvantages that sometimes women tend to ignore. The dependence to make up is one of the great dilemmas.
There is no harm in using make-ups, as long as it does not consume your inner regard of yourself. But once a person feels ugly and unpleasant without it, that’s the time that you can say that it has done more harm than good in your self esteem.
